The Marion County Solar Project is a 2.0-megawatt installation located on 10 acres of land in Buena Vista, Ga.
The project, originally developed by Hannah Solar of Atlanta, was acquired and completed by Citizens Energy as a late-stage development asset. The ground-mounted, utility-scale project consists of two separate 1.0-megawatt arrays developed on adjacent land parcels.
The complete Marion County project utilizes 6,776 ReneSola solar panels, four Advanced Energy inverters, and an RBI ground-mount racking system. Completed in November 2013, the installation generates over 3 million kilowatt hours of electricity per year, enough to power over 200 homes and prevent the annual release of over 2,000 tons of carbon dioxide from non-renewable power plants.
This project was completed as a part of the first round of the Georgia Power Advanced Solar Initiative, a utility program to promote the generation of clean, green energy in the state.
