The Marion County Solar projects are two 1.0-megawatt (MW) installations (2.0 MW total) located on 10 acres of land in Buena Vista, Georgia.
The ground-mounted, utility-scale arrays, originally developed by a local developer, were acquired and completed by Citizens Energy as late-stage development assets.
The Marion County Solar projects utilize 6,776 ReneSola solar panels, four Advanced Energy inverters, and RBI ground-mount racking systems. Completed in November 2013, the installations generate over 3 million kilowatt hours of electricity per year, enough to power over 200 homes and prevent the annual release of over 2,000 tons of carbon dioxide from non-renewable power plants.
These projects were completed as a part of the first round of the Georgia Power Advanced Solar Initiative, a utility program to promote the generation of clean, green energy in the state.
