Help Citizens Energy Help Your Community

Many families need assistance to stay warm and safe.  With your help, we will provide struggling families some much-needed assistance to help them make it through the toughest of times.  Your contribution to Citizens Programs Corporation, our 501(c)(3) subsidiary, will help finance the energy costs of families facing extreme conditions and heating needs.

We gratefully accept donations from corporations and individuals. You can help make sure that no one in your community has to face freezing temperatures alone by clicking the link below to make a tax-deductible donation.

During the prior heating season, in partnership with the Massachusetts Association for Community Action and the fuel assistance programs through the state, we were able to help more than 3,000 additional households due to the generosity of our donors.  Thanks to all the corporate and individual donors who helped ensure that no one should be left out in the cold!

Donors' Corner

Here are just a few examples of the kind and generous individuals and organizations who have helped keep families warm this past heating season:

-- Massachusetts Lodges of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows donated to the Oil Heat Fund this year as part of the Order's charitable mission.

-- The George W. Peabody Chapter of the National Honor Society at Danvers High School, which donated the proceeds from its annual Daredevil Dive into the chilly waters of the Atlantic Ocean.  More than 60 students and faculty from Danvers High participated in this year's Daredevil Dive at Crane's Beach!

-- The employees at the Boston Housing Authority, who generously donate to charitable organizations each month throughout the year.

-- The Cares4Community team at Constant Contact in Waltham.

-- The Phillips Academy community in Andover, which donated half of its holiday liturgical offering to support heating oil deliveries and the other half to help a local pantry and food assistance agency.

-- The Site Giving Program at Extech Instruments Corporation in Waltham.

We are grateful to these and all of our thoughtful and generous donors throughout the year.

The Boston Foundation Supports Oil Deliveries to Low Income and Elderly Residents

During the heating season, The Boston Foundation donated a total of $126,300 to Citizens Energy to support the delivery of heating oil to low-income and elderly residents as part of its Food and Fuel initiative.  In response to the threat of record energy prices, the Boston Foundation has championed a Food and Fuel initiative to help local residents in distress, as well as to catalyze long-term change to benefit vulnerable households.

One of the nation's oldest and largest community foundations, The Boston Foundation is made up of about 850 separate charitable funds, and serves as a civic leader, convenor, and sponsor of special initiatives designed to build community.  For more information about The Boston Foundation, its grant making, and its many activities, please visit
